As well as offering an essential understanding of how colour works, the show opens a door to imagination and creativity (and a colour-first approach to art) in a wonder-filled exploration that’s sure to delight children everywhere. COLOURBLOCKS uses the proven magic of Blocks to help young children dive into the wondrous world of colour. Developed in consultation with a global team of colour experts, and packed with loveable characters, show-stopping songs, humour and adventure, the show delivers colour recognition, colour names, meaning and signifiers, mixing, mark making, similar and contrasting colours, light and dark and all kinds of patterns – and that’s just for starters. It's all designed to inspire young children to be colour explorers, discovering how the colours all around them work, and getting hands on with colour themselves.
Each vibrant Colourblock personifies a colour, making it memorable and exciting for a child. As they explore their colouring-book world, the Colourblocks discover that they can add colour to it as they go and, by working together, they can create new colours and make new friends.
Lively Red is very excited to be in the world. She’s fiery and dramatic and always running around finding new things to be passionate about.
Cool Blue loves to relax in his little blue boat. He’s a calm thinker who’s great at solving problems and who loves to learn new things about the world.
Sunny Yellow is a happy, bouncy, cheerful chap. Full of fun and always positive, he keeps his friends smiling.
Green loves nature, naturally! Kind and relaxed, she loves plants and animals and is happiest in the forest or growing things in her greenhouse.
Active Orange is full of energy! She can’t stop running, jumping, stretching and star-jumping, and when she runs out of juice, a slice of orange soon gets her powered up again.
Imaginative Purple always has big dreams and big plans. He lives like a king in a big purple castle where all his friends are always welcome.
Meet the Rainbow Chasers - Indigo, who says he’s ‘like Blue but a bit more Purple’, and Violet, who says she’s ‘A little bit Purple, but a bit more Blue’. These friends of Purple share a passion for rainbows and long to see one.
These mischievous friends are often seen together, along with the speakers that say their names when they bounce on them. As well as making their own colours, they help the Colourblocks create dark and light shades.
Black and White discover that they can mix to make Grey, and once that happens, they mix with Grey to make Dark Grey and Light Grey, creating a whole family of shades.
Fun-loving Pink pops up to put the icing on the cake and the strawberry in the milkshake! ‘Pink is for everyone!’ he sings in his upbeat party song.
Down-to-earth Brown is an adventurer and an explorer through and through. She lives in a log cabin in the woods alongside brown bears and brown owls.
Cyan and Magenta are Yellow's Printing Crew friends who love to race in their Car-tridges. Cyan is chilled and laid-back, a bit like Blue, but watch out when she starts to race! Meanwhile Magenta loves to tinker and fix things and is always upgrading his racing Car-trige!
