How it works

Numberblocks is a step-by-step learning journey grouped neatly into five colour-coded levels. Each level introduces ever greater numbers and a sequence of key topics and skills that help your child build natural number sense and a solid foundation of mathematical understanding.

Numberblocks uses best-practice visual teaching techniques aligned to the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework and KS1 curriculum, and mathematics curricula from around the world. We work closely with the  NCETM (National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics) to ensure that every episode contributes to a confident and rounded understanding of essential mathematical ideas.

Numbers up to 5

Level 1 introduces the first five numbers and foundation skills including counting, recognising amounts on sight, comparing and sorting numbers and simple addition and subtraction.

Numbers up to 10

Level 2 takes us up to ten, developing the foundation skills and introducing number bonds, odds and evens, square numbers, number patterns, shapes and more.

Numbers up to 20

Level 3 takes us past ten with numbers who discover place value, doubling and halving, multiplication, division, factors and new number patterns.

Numbers up to 50

Level 4 helps children become number explorers, discovering how the number system works and developing all their skills with two-digit numbers.

Numbers up to 100

Level 5 builds confidence in working and playing with numbers up to 100 and offers a sneak peak of how much bigger numbers work.

Say hello to the colourful Numberblocks crew!

Have you met the Numberblocks? These super-friendly characters are made of blocks, which makes it easy to see what their number means. Their personalities are based on their numbers. And when One hops on top of Two, they turn into Three − that's number magic.

Maths is easy when you can see how it works. By keeping it all visual and animating the big ideas, Numberblocks guarantees the eureka moments keep popping.

Numberblock One

Numberblock One is the first little block that ever there was.

She’s the smallest and the bravest, has lots of ideas and is always first to come up with a plan.

Numberblock Two

Numberblock Two is always there when
you need a friend, and together, the two of you can do anything!

He’s very proud of his magic dancing shoes and he loves to dance with a one-two, one two....

Numberblock Three

Numberblock Three is a real performer − always juggling, putting on a show, telling a tall tale or doing magic tricks to keep the others entertained with a 1, 2, 3, Look at me!

Numberblock Four

Numberblock Four is the friendly block who’s solid as a rock.

He’s always ready to help, he loves to laugh and he is very, very excited to be a square.

Numberblock Five

Numberblock Five is a real star and the leader of the band.

She’s always got a high five and friendly encouragement for the others − and she loves to count to five on her fingers.

Numberblock Six

Numberblock Six loves to roll her magic dice and get everyone playing games.

She lives to rhyme and she’s pretty handy too – she can split into Ones, Twos, Threes or one of each.

Numberblock Seven

Lucky number Seven was hit by a rainbow and turned all seven colours.

Somehow, everything just falls into place and turns out nicely when he’s around. How lucky is that!

Numberblock Eight

Numberblock Eight is known by his superhero name: Octoblock.

He’s got eight arms (or are they legs?) and when he needs to run fast, swim a long way, climb up high, knit in a hurry or more he changes shape to activate a unique special power each time:
Octoblock Run! 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 Run!

Numberblock Nine

Numberblock Nine is a square like Four but bigger and stronger.

He often gets a tickly nose, and if he doesn’t get to a hankie in time, his middle block shoots out in a giant sneeze. So he has nine hankies, just in case.

Numberblock Ten

Numberblock Ten is simply amazing. She’s got two numberlings, a 1 and a 0.

She’s got two starry eyes with ten points and two big hands so she can count to ten on her fingers. And she can turn into a rocket and blast off into space by counting down from 10.
